Everest is the compelling true story of a group of climbers trying to scale one of the most challenging mountains that can be climbed. In the summer of 1996, Rob Hall (Jason Clarke), the leader of the Adventure Consultants team that included experienced climbers: Beck Weathers (Josh Brolin), Doug Hansen (John Hawkes), Yasuko Namba (Naoko Mori), & co-guide Andy "Harold" Harris (Martin Henderson) embarked on the grueling climb to reach the summit of Mount Everest. The team is supported by base camp manager, Helen Wilton (Emily Watson), & Rob's friend/co-worker Guy Cotter (Sam Worthington). Base camp is crowded & chaotic with 1900 climbers all vying at a 2 week window. Rob appeals to Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal), the leader of Mountain Madness to join forces & cooperate in spite of the fact that Rob has snagged journalist Jon Krakauer (Michael Kelly) away from the Mountain Madness team. A combination of factors; the ability of individual climbers, miscommunication between the two climbing teams & their Sherpas along with a sudden storm result in disaster. Loosely based on the best-selling novel "Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster" by Jon Krakauer, director Baltasar Kormákur, screenwriters William Nicholson & Simon Beaufoy have given the audience an intensely personal look of the struggles, the triumph of human endurance & the deadly conditions those who strive to reach the top of Mt. Everest endure. The performances from this ensemble cast that also features Keira Knightley as Rob's pregnant wife Jan & Robin Wright as Peach (Beck's wife) were flawless. You can reach the top of Everest in 2D, 3D of IMAX 3D. SEE THIS FILM.
