Review of Everest (2015) by Anthony L — 23 Oct 2015
Everest had a by-the-numbers feel that most movies can cover up with story. Just because the movie is based on actual events shouldn't mean it can't be more entertaining.
They had plenty of anticipatory emotional bombs in place that were all covered in the end (in a by-the-book fashion), some of the more compelling stories weren't placed more in the lead, and the casting wasn't the greatest. With an opportunity to make humans look small compared to one of the most iconic natural wonders, the FX department and cinematographer weren't able to make Everest stand out.
The story is OK, the actors do an OK job, but there is nothing that would make me tell people they need to spend money on Everest. It'll be on a movie channel soon enough.
