Review of Everest (2015) by Robert B — 12 Jan 2016
So this film suffers from a problem similar to a lot of "based on a true story" films that I've started to notice: the story arcs just aren't perfect. That's not say it's bad, it just could've been better.
The foreshadowing and symbolism doesn't wrap around quite right because the film is limited to real events, so a lot of the tension built doesn't quite get released right when characters die or are killed off - because they should've been the hero in a perfect film and the asshole guy lives because that's what really happened!
That aside - Everest is preeeeetty good. The haunting passivity that death on Mt. Everest becomes is pretty... chilling. BOOOOOOM pun. Seriously though, I never wanted to be cold again after watching this film. Big props to make-up and practicals because the cold is made to look oh oh oh so cold.
The story itself was really interesting the the wrap-up really did a good job serving the story.
Definitely worth a watch. Hunt it down.
