Review of Everest (2015) by Smiyamot — 12 Mar 2016
I read the book quite a few years ago. While the movie tries to show you what it's like, the written word does a much better job. I remember after the book came out and the families found out how their loved ones died, they sued.
Don't know how that turned out. While the book explained the "successful" business side, the movie kinda glanced over it. But the whole movie really hinges on why the guide took the last guy to the summit at 4 PM when 2 PM was the time limit.
Why didn't he turn him around? Would the four fatalities not have happened if he had been with his group? The book explained it's business; the more clients that reach the summit, the more clients they'll have next year.
At the end of the movie there is a photo of the members of the business and that's a lot of people to pay.
