"Ever After" is - without a doubt - the best cinematic version of "Cinderella" I've seen. It's also one of my ALL-TIME favorite movies. Much like the book "Ella Enchanted", "Ever After" shows how to update fairy tales the right way.
1) Create a lush and inviting atmosphere. 2) Deepen and enrich the original story. 3) Make the heroine strong and complex, but with a softer side as well. Filmmakers who like to adapt classic stories could learn a lot from movies like"Ever After".
