Review of EverAfter (1998) by Leeway C — 16 Sep 2010
"Ever After adds a unique twist to the Original Disney-Time Classics, a note-worthy work from Drew Barrymore and a remarkable, wicked, convincing performance from Angelica Houston who rather brilliantly plays the Devil-Witch Stepmother.".
So it is true some of the emotions are a bit jammed up together, from a funny dromedy into a serious-hyped-up-unfair arguement. However this movie isn't tedious, you'll have a heated up temper whenever the stepmother brings Drew to the lowest respects. This movie satisfies and I'm proud to say that it was "One of the Years Best Romantic-Dramas" it fills your cup up. The Storyline is pretty much the same with Disneys but just without the magic and without the cartoonish animation. The movie's dialogue (PG-13 content) amps up the story and the performances compell. Drew Barrymore has her charms in this one as the main-likable-tom-boyish Protagonist and Angelica Houston still has her evil spell. I'm surprised on why Drew Barrymore's character and her loving stepsister Melanie Lynskey never stoned their stepmother to death.
