Review of Event Horizon (1997) by Nino L — 10 Apr 2011
A great looking movie with an awesome soundtrack.
Unfortunately though the movie forgets to tell a at least decent story.
The movie does not tell you anything about the characters (well a little bit about L.Fishburne and S. Neill) which makes it really hard to find any kind of emotions for them when they get in dangerous situations or such. Also L.Fishburn absolutley fails to play the role of the captain who is faced with his dramatic past. At least I didn't buy it for a second.
On top of that there are a lot of scenes which simply don't make any sense at all. Of course realism is not a big factor in a scifi movie but in my opinion the moive goes way to far out of line.
There are a lot of scences where you also just have no idea why the character reacts the way he does or how on earth he even got there.
So if you want to check your new HD TV or your new Sound system, this movie is for you.
If you want to see a good story or a thrilling horror movie, this movie is not for you.
