Review of Event Horizon (1997) by Allan C — 15 Jun 2012
Essentially a haunted house movie set on a mysterious ship in outer space. The film boasts a solid cast, but it's so utterly derivative in both story and style that you can't help but feel you've seen this film a hundred times before.
It starts out promising and does have a few decent horror moments, but it really loses steam once it tries to unravel the mystery of the ship, which is never really explained. The film is not as bad as some of Paul W.
S. Anderson films, i.e. "Death Race" or "AVP", but certainly not on of his better films, which are only mediocre at best, i.e. "Soldier" or "Mortal Kombat".
