Review of Evening (2007) by Vomalfalda B — 05 May 2009
Saw this back when it was released ..... remember being profoundly impacted. Loved everything about this film: from the luscious soundtrack & locations, to tremendous acting, complex yet simple storyline with resonating themes, and the great wisdom of the primary characters ........ while not a particularly stereotypical "man" movie I've kept my feelings for this gem to myself -- you know, somethings need to be kept secret : for ostracization's sake perhaps.
BUT -- just purchased DVD and saw again -- and its just too much (too awesome) for me to keep my love for this movie under wraps (especially given our current real world circumstances). Its as though (as a seemingly fear-driven world), we so often loose sight of our relative transitory nature. Perhaps Meryl Streep's character said it best, "There's no such thing as a mistake.".
