Sometimes such criticising is just due to way too high expectations, considering the amazing cast. The movie is simply strange, it reveals the dark side of human lifes. At a moment when Ann knows that she is going to die soon, she turns back in time just to realize how horrible mistakes she's done, to find out that she hasn't got what she wanted from life and that she has many regrets.
The time shifting keeps the attention and creates a tension which doesn't let you get bored. And the fact that you might feel someday the same way makes it even more intriguing.
