Review of Even the Rain (2011) by Rob L — 16 Sep 2012
The spirit of Ken Loach is filtered via screenwriter Paul Laverty via Bolivia and the results are stunning - a hard hitting, endlessly creative film that mixes spectacular action with a gripping story line, all topped by a social conscience that links the present day with historical events skilfully.
Louis Tosar is excellent as a man with a consience whose feelings become less gung ho as the film progresses. Much to ponder about the nature of the relationship between invaders and indigenous people - still very much in the spotlight in Cochabamba.
