Review of Even Dwarfs Started Small (1971) by Brent G — 12 Sep 2009
Man, what a strange piece of work! this was my introduction to early herzog work and while I thought it dragged a bit in the middle and perhaps the mood wasn't quite right, looking back on this, I really think it's awesome.
very much unlike anything i've seen before, it does a lot to put you into this crazy mental state and not to mention the gorgeous lighting and cinematography. any movie that ends with a midget maniacally laughing next to a camel down on its front knees for roughly ten minutes may not be ideal for parties, but has to be seen to really be marveled at.
