Review of Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1994) by Luca V — 14 Jul 2008
If Paranoid Park was clever this film is super-stupid. From the beginning to the end. The core of the story is the giant thumbs of Uma Thurman that make her a magic piper enchanting drivers, traveling coast to coast hitch hiking. I find this idea of equipping Thurman with oblong thumbs a big nonsense. Nonsense is all the film, the cowgirls who have nothing better to do than killing cows and protecting whooping cranes feeding them with hallucinogen. The right title of this film is -The error-.
I mean every single scene is demented, the leader of cowgirls, a certain Jellybean is ugly. There is nothing to save in this film. I don t know how Gus Van Sant and Uma Thurman rescued them from the shame of having shot this shit.
