Review of Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1994) by Dawn D — 19 Jun 2009
This is where it all went wrong for Van Sant. I loved this Tom Robbins underground classic. In fact, I read the director's script, which was better than acceptable. So what went wrong? Maybe it was too many stars on too small of a budget; like he had to say "I can't really afford you, so please do the best you can the first time, because whatever comes out HAS to go into the movie".
Roseanne couldn't even say "Jesus f**kin' Christ" right. Keanu Reeves is always a mistake, especially with his horrible orange tan (he's suppose to be Native American) and Rain Phoenix was even worse.
It seemed too good to be true and thus, it was.
