Even though it's a little tedious in its world exposition, which is complicated and time-consuming due to the 14-year time skip from 3.33, basically EoE is a little bit superior. The ending is like EoE, still an open ended.
However, it makes for a satisfying ending, sends a more straightforward message, and gives the impression that Evangelion is really over. And like EoE itself, there will be a lot of debate or controversy among fans.
