Review of Evan Almighty (2007) by Alan G — 31 Mar 2012
It's more of a family film than its predecessor Bruce Almighty... But is that a good thing?
The dialogue is cheesy, the message overbearing, the story not quite as unique as Bruce, but the jokes are better and it doesn't involve Jim Carey, so it kind of balances out... Doesn't it?
Here's what you get when you sit down to watch this, some mediocre acting, some mediocre special effects, a sometimes heartwarming tale, and a much, eh, "nicer" sense of humor... Kind of.
Unfortunately you get a lot of feces jokes... If animals going to the bathroom is your kind of humor than there's more than enough jokes to keep you laughing.
And though it's nice to imagine Morgan Freeman as God, it's also nice to imagine that God will punish anyone that thinks to make a third "Almighty" movie... One really was enough, two is okay, but if there's a third one, so help me... Well, you get the picture.
Not Carells best work, not Freemans best work, but Lauren Graham sure is hot, and in the end isn't that all that really matters?
