Review of Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020) by Musicalmarvell — 10 Aug 2020
Director David Dobkin's "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" is surprisingly a good film. I didn't really enjoy the innuendo nor the dead arm of Katiana Lindsdóttir (wonderfully portrayed by Demi Lovato), but everything else was pretty great.
The cast, which includes Will Ferrell, Rachel McAdams, Pierce Brosnan, Dan Stevens/Erik Mjönes & the previously mentioned Lovato, is spectacular in both acting and singing. The screenplay is nicely done, the songs are actually appealing, and the fact that this film was pretty accurate in portraying the Eurovision Song Contest & Icelandic culture is really cool.
The best thing about "Eurovision" is that it has heart. I was really taken back when Sigrit (acting portrayed by McAdams, singing by My Marianne) started performing the ballad that she had been working on during the film. I actually got CHILLS. I did not expect such a beautiful song at all. The screenplay also contributes to your already melting heart.
So, as most people have stated on here, "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" is cheesy, but enjoyable. Honestly, I would recommend.
