Review of Europa Report (2013) by Rick P — 28 Jun 2013
An interesting and inspired, albeit flawed attempt into dramatic fictionalized documentary. While it spends time attempting to build and sometimes forcing tension during the travel to and eventual study of Jupiter's moon Europa, the stakes do not feel as high since very little was invested into the characters themselves (save for Sharlto Copley's character, who is revealed to have a family and a sense of humor).
The graphic design and voyeuristic cinematography play well into the film's charm, yet the script's issues keep it from fully achieving what it could have been.
