Review of Europa Report (2013) by Guido S — 06 Dec 2013
I like movies involving space. I really enjoyed Moon and more recently Gravity, so I was interested in this one. Basically, a space team goes to one of Jupiter's moons to search for existence of life based off recent findings.
They eventually get there pretty late in the film, but land way off target, so they have to travel far just to get samples. That's about the majority of the film, almost like a direct feed of a NASA mission.
It is interesting, but is it incredibly dry. Eventually things start going wrong, with people not following orders and doing dumb stuff which put strains on the mission. It does kind of do something to make the whole film worth something, but it's so insignificant that it wasn't worth the wait to see it.
I'd rather watch the movies I mentioned, even Prometheus (which is very similar to this, but shockingly better). I'll give them credit for doing pretty good things on a small budget, but that's about it.
