Review of Europa Report (2013) by Ivor S — 07 Feb 2014
A stunning journey. The multiple camera angles and readouts lent an air of credibility.
The design of the ship was well conceived, the readouts and electronics were state of the art. All the actors performed well, but the audio was not always clear. Closed caption might have helped. This is truly an under rated movie, If indeed it is a low budget production, I could not tell. It looked as solid as any other space movie I have seen, The living quarters were cramped, but this aspect added to the ever present sense of danger, that accompanied this mission. There are many jump shots, between the earth control, and the narrator. Early on, communication is lost, but the mission to the frozen water world of Jupiter's moon Europa continues. The discovery at the end, is awesome, but costly.
To my knowledge the movie never attained theatrical release, I saw it on a DVD, The splendid movie, Gravity, stole some of its thunder, it remains none the less, a stunning achievement, with closer ties to 2001, then Gravity was able to attain. Beautifully done.
