Review of Europa Report (2013) by Dellitt W — 08 Mar 2014
I thought this movie was absolutely amazing. I was completely involved in it from the very first moment to the last. It was interesting in every way - plot, characters, action and pacing of action with suspenseful inaction, the concept was fabulous, comparing it to Arthur C.
Clarke's 2001 and also the Alien films and other sci-fi (movies, books, tv), the way it was filmed and pieced together, showing things chronologically some of the time but also returning to past events rather than putting everything in a straight line - a complete success from my point of view, the decisions of the crew along the way, the music very much played a part in the film, the art of it as in it was visually stimulating in various ways, the science of it was gratifying and the use of real images I am familiar with as well as recent discoveries and how that has affected how we view Europa, and little details, such as the little title saying which camera we are watching, and the SILENCE - so powerful, when we lose contact with one of the characters.
It was fantastic. I don't understand an 80% rating on here. To me this is one of the best sci-fi films ever made. Deserves a 100. Superbly done. How did this not come away with a best picture award? Unbelievably good.
I was just hoping for an interesting show and wound up with something much more powerful than I expected.
