If this is how you put science back into science fiction, then I must put the sci-fi in the trash can, because that's where this belongs. This is a mostly rudimentary film without any real suspense or plot and those who have written this might have seen 2001 more than once. It has an unnecessary non-linear narrative in the first half which has no reason to exist and if it were not there, then the film could have had at least one genuine twist. It has an A-list cast who give the film some value and instead of concentrating on science, this film always tries to build some form of Alien mystery that simply falls flat. And for visual effects, most of them are mediocre and they don't provide VFX whenever it's really needed. However, the film has some stationary effects that add to it's value, mostly that of planets and their terrains. The found footage format seems unnecessary as it could have been more interesting if the audience were shown something visually striking.
