Review of Europa Europa (1990) by Michael B — 08 Jan 2008
Above all, an incredible story. And unlike the many times a Hollywood director would sensationalize or melodramtize such a strong narrative, the Polish Agnieszka Holland does everything right to enhance the suspense and the looming historical context.
The dream sequences are also a brilliant motif throughout. Hitler hiding with the him, a Jew in the closet is an image I won't soon forget. Great story. Great film.
