Review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) by Mike A — 18 Jan 2013
An unforgettable journey into the mind of a man who wants to forget an ex-girlfriend. He signs up for a procedure to erase his memories of her and halfway through he realizes he wants to hold on. As psychological as it is gripping, it makes us, as an audience, look within ourselves and wonder whether or not we'd give up our own memories.
Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet have amazing chemistry and you find yourself rooting for them to win their game of mental hide and seek. The world of memories is intriguing and sometimes a little disturbing but it gets the point across in a unique way.
It takes the idea of the original love story and skews the timeline and universe, giving us a fresh look on a worn out narrative. The film itself is as unforgettable as Clementine is to Joel. Give it a watch.
You won't regret it.
