The end-all, be-all romantic comedy in my mind. This is genius filmmaking in every regard, from the clever wit of the story down to the inventive editing. The real surprise is Jim Carrey's dramatic acting range, which blows away all expectations.

I've watched this film dozens of times now, and I still marvel at just how finely tuned and emotionally stirring it is. This is a film unafraid to explore the deepest emotional depths and lay all of its cards out on the table.

Films like Eternal Sunshine are why we go to the movie theater week after week.
