Review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) by Urban M — 23 Sep 2016
One of my favourite movies of all time- low-key funny in how real it is, the two leads are beyond words (especially Winslet) so that the pretty good supporting cast almost fades in comparison (but not quite) and the direction and cinematography are pitch-perfect and endlessly creative in translating an admittedly out-there set-up to a visual medium.
This set-up is carried by a script that is sheer brilliance, juggling narrative complexity and heavy themes such as identity, loss and acceptance with a human love story by precise construction to make the film immediately accessible despite the mountain of complexity to climb.
