Review of Eternal Beauty (2020) by Dawdlingpoet — 08 Jun 2022
This is very much a quirky character driven drama. Sally Hawkins does well portraying a vulnerable, demure young lady. Its more sad than it is funny, so I'm surprised its categorised, in part, as a comedy - there are some light hearted moments in it I suppose but its more a depiction of a dysfunctional family at large than primarily an idyllic rom-com.
I thought the cast did well and its an interesting watch. It became quite moving after about an hour, when things take a somewhat more dark turn. I think Sally's performance is reasonably memorable and I'd recommend this film to fans of hers.
A key word relating to this film and the main character is fragility.
