Review of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) by Jeff K — 27 Jun 2013
Akira Kurosawa once said something like, "A movie should not be difficult to understand, but should be complex only in its implications." This film along with most of Spielberg's work exemplify this.
E.T. is a deceptively simple family film that contains deep, personal messages about family and friendship. Growing up this film was the one that affected me most, even though I never saw it until I was in high school, I saw trailers and pictures and read about the film and dreamed about it.
When I finally saw it, I found that my dreams could not compare with Spielberg's masterpiece.
