Review of Escape Plan (2013) by Nishlank J — 28 Mar 2014
Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger show no signs of stopping, and thank God because I'm enjoying watching these action legends still kick ass, age is no barrier and these two still have it.
Stallone and Schwarzenegger play Ray Breslin and Emil Rottmayer, one being a prison escape artist and the other a inmate of a high tech security prison where Breslin is wrongly imprisoned and left to suffer in this seemingly unbreakable fortress.
I'll admit this would've been a masterpiece back in the 80's or 90's, it's fun now but back then it would've nicely mixed in with films similar such as Face/Off or The Rock. It does lack tension when it really should be pumping, but there's plenty of punch ups, stellar Arnold one liners and Stallone's effortless cool style, and you really feel like Stallone is having a blast.
Would I watch this again? It's runs in at an hour and fifty minutes and there's never a dull moment, so I would watch it again, plus the finale makes it all worth the wait with gunfire galore and big action and some welcome twists that I didn't see coming.
