Review of Escape Plan (2013) by Aodhan R — 12 Sep 2014
Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up for this action thriller, which has such a peculiar and confusing plot to follow. As the movie proceeds from its opening sequence you imagine there's excitement right around the corner, as Stallone's character Ray Breslin, an inmate at the most secure prison ever constructed ( or so it's claimed ), must break out by structuring an Escape Plan. He befriends Schwarzenegger's Rottmayer, who's his faithful favourer and accomplice/sidekick. Jim Caviezel brings a well regarded performance as the Warden of the prison, called Hobbes. Vinnie Jones is Drake, a mad and physically motivating guard. Sam Neill and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson star in minor supporting roles.
It's a tough movie to follow, so I'd more or less say to be square that 'Escape Plan' ought to be watched more than once, maybe several times, to try and understand the plot behind the movie and how to follow it. What I will say is that Stallone and Schwarzenegger made one of the best action duos and team-uppers and I'm glad they have more screen time here than they did in The Expendables.
