Review of Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018) by Chandler L — 19 Jan 2019
This is a movie that manages to hold the audiences attention for the first five minutes of its run time and only the first five minutes of its run time.
As soon as Stallone's character - no offense to the big guy - appears on screen, this movie descends into this boring, toneless, and barely comprehensible mess that suffers from its inability to properly balance its large cast. Bautista, especially, was sidelined in such a way that his character could have easily been removed halfway through production without affecting the movie at all.
And the lack of Sylvester Stallone/Arnold Schwarzenegger interactions does not in fact cover up the fact that Escape Plan 2's basic plot is a carbon copy of its predecessor's. If anything, it only makes it more obvious.
