"Escape from the Planet of the Apes" is one of the better films of the franchise. It is very humorous in its tone compared to the last two films, but it becomes a little too serious near the end despite the fact that it does work.
Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter deliver great performances, especially Hunter with her most expressive eyes.
