Review of Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) by Muffin M — 27 Aug 2011
From Beneath to Escaping the Planet of the Apes is a crucial and drastic transition. This time around is different. One of the things I personally love and enjoy the most of this franchise is that it plays with the most important sub-genres of sci-fiction.
Time travel in this case, and "basically" an altered universe. The main tone and themes are really well played, and are really believable. The make-up is great and the acting too. So much joy seeing Zira and Cornelius finally being the protagonists of this picture.
Funny, Bizarre and with Political issues like the first one. Escape may not be a Masterpiece like the first one,but still is a personal favorite and damn-good film. A role-changer for this franchise, it responds to critical paranoia that our representatives may have in their personal greed/ quest for power, and how they dare to harm innocent beings.
.. wonder what's next. Brilliant.
