Review of Escape from Sobibor (1987) by James M — 23 Aug 2015
Very fine film, very moving and pulls the viewer into the narrative. It is historically and thematically important as well. Artistically, I appreciate the irony that the caged rabbits, which the S.S. make Jews tend so they can eat their Hasespfeffer (traditional rabbit stew), eventually prove their undoing, and the caged prisoners (for which the rabbits are a metaphor) overcome their passivity and arise to kill and escape their captors.
