"Escape From Planet Earth" is maybe a colorful and sugar-coded animated feature that kids may enjoy, but "Escape From Planet Earth" is so awful it feels like a cartoon movie from Nickelodeon that must have got a theatrical release by accident. The worst part about this movie is that it stars Brendan Fraser remember him? His last movie was the godawful family movie "Furry Vengeance" three years ago.
Brendan Fraser are you really trying to destroy your career? This is your first movie in three years and you picked another bad family movie. What happened? Did you have any movie offers after "Furry Vengeance"? or Did everybody think you were so awful in "Furry Vengeance" that you haven't got any offers since?
Fraser plays Scorch Supernova an alien superhero from Planet Baab who is so famous they even have Scorch action figures.
As I watched Scorch I thought: "Brendan Fraser why did you "escape from planet earth" was it because your career was pretty much over by abusive angry animals?".
So Scorch arrives on Planet Earth for another mission and he crash lands near a 7-Eleven and he gets captured by General Shanker (voiced by William Shatner) and Scorch's brother Gary (voiced by Rob Corddry) goes to planet earth to rescue him.
Everything about "Escape From Planet Earth" feels weak. The story is weak, the characters are bland, the jokes are stale and it makes "Epic" look epic by comparison. Even the entire voice cast feels wasted, not only Fraser and William Shatner are wasted also lending their voices in this are Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Craig Robinson, George Lopez, Jane Lynch, Ricky Gervais and Sofia Vergara (when are they going to stop casting her).
Families please wait for "Monsters University" and "Despicable Me 2" don't waste your money on this bland cheese burger of a kiddie movie.
