Review of Escape from Planet Earth (2013) by Suzy F — 15 Feb 2013
I guess it isn't awful, but it so predictable, cliched, and ultimately unimaginative. Its premise is unique but it is not explored at all. Kudos to a couple of the voice actors( Brendan Frazer, Craig Robinson, and William Shatner) for giving it their all handling the week script they were provided with.
And the animation is straight up gorgeous. But the movie just needed to take some notes from "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" to know how to make a successful sci-fi family adventure. Because there was not much adventure at all, and I felt that the characters weren't in any danger.
I personally think the writers didn't know how to write an actual threat, because the movie is so goddamn short, and it was just frustrating.
