Now that I know its made by John Carpenter it would explain the feel of the film. It seems like a different version of "The Thing".

I enjoyed it but it is very dated and seems a bit strange as to the direction that the film wants to take. Its not a full out action film nor is it a full on espionage film. It seems to take nothing from other films but seems to lack a certain something which would allow it to be defined better and because of this the film suffers a lack of direction.

It appears to be a watch-able mash of ideas but I have no idea why its has become such a classic cult film.
