Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Jason B — 05 Sep 2009
SPOILER ALERT.
The only decent part of this horrendous movie is the end, when the President of the United States plays the "message that will save the world" and it turns out to be Miles Davis (I'm sure it wasn't Davis, but "Miles Davis" sounds better than "jazz"). The rest of the film is just bloody nonsensical action that moved too quickly for me to even try to appreciate. This beginning was way too short. It should have layed itself down a bit better. The hijacking, and the thrusting of Kurt Russell into a flame called New York City was too sudden. It made sense at the time, but then it just contradicted itself again and again. This was a terrible movie that, if you value my opinion, you'll never see.
