Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Deb S — 03 Jan 2010
Kurt Russell is awesome as Snake Plissken, an ex-soldier turned criminal, who is chosen to rescue the President when Air Force crashes in New York City in exchange for a full parole. Wearing an eye-patch, Kurt Russell looks like the ultimate bad-ass and is probably the coolest action hero (or anti-hero) ever.
It's filled with an eclectic mix of great characters that included Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Harry Dean Stanton, Charles Cyphers, Tom Atkins, Donald Pleasance and Frank Doubleday. The movie isn't perfect; but I think that it's action-packed enough to make up for it.
