Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Diego E — 13 Jan 2010
Classic movie that can be appericated for many years to come. I was expecting a movie with alot of cliche lines and you could probably argue there was but it just felt so original tho.
The plot is the air force one is taken over by a radical group and the president is forced to escape through his escape pod lol. He just so happens to land in manhatten which is completely walled off and is being used as a prison. So they are forced to send in a former decorated veteran turned depository robber Snake Plisskin. I know what your thinkin awesome name I did as well. You know what you get from the start with snake a wise crakin bad a** that kurt russell plays spectacular. I honesty think the movie wouldnt been good if they got anyone else. They cut snake a deal he walks free if he locates president within 24 hours. They end up planting two pinhead size bombs in his main arteries so now its a life or death race against time. Snake enters a city filled with crazies and the duke along the way mixing with characters like cabbie and the brain.
Is has some pretty funny dialogue to for example snake meets one of the inmate women she asks "are u a cop" he responds "im an asshole".
You need to watch this awesome action awesome adventure.
