It certainly has lost its charm over the years. Snake Plissken is ultimate hero... for a 12 year-old. All tough guy talk and bad attitude, and essentially no depth whatsoever. The movie is all-around pretty ridiculous (particularly the character of "Romero") but fun in a few spots.
Horribly paced, though... takes forever to get going. The alternate opening would have been much better.
