Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Luke B — 25 Jun 2010
John Carpenter's 80's classic is still pretty damn superb. It gives us an awesome antihero, one that's cool without trying too hard. The plot is also well paced and delicately set out. The film is certainly lacking in character development as absolutely know one is developed.
This is a story about the situation presented to us. This does help the film avoid schmaltzy melodrama, or misguided politics. It's a shooterific action piece with enough ideas to keep you interested.
