(1981) Escape To New York.
SCIENCE-FICTION.
Part of the idea may have derived from "Planet Of The Apes" by using the "Statue of Liberty"!!!! Anyways, it is the future and New York City has been turned into a virtual prison, coincidently the President Of The United States(Donald Pleasance) while flying in his Air Force One somehow gets shot down while attempting to fly across and becomes marooned. Using Snake(Kurt Russell), a ruthless but experienced ex-convict to first save the President and then second, return him safely to a particular spot for a specific amount of time otherwise, he'd be killed too because of something that is implanted inside of him or on him. Anyways, Jack also has others aiding him to do job as well.
It's another one of those movies which the idea can be appreciated than it's overall content and that is the lack of violence/ action since as I recall they're no less than a few action scenes with a heck of alot of chasing/ hiding. The video game is probably more fun and be able to show more violence than it is to watch this. Adrienne Barbeau also stars as part of a small group in helping Kurt Russel character in saving the President.
2.5 out of 4.
