Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Craig H — 18 Jun 2012
A very gritty and bleak view of the future world. This film had a very dark tone which suited the film. The Manhattan city prison is sucessfully made into a scary place full of oddball weirdness. our lead hero is played by a very badass 80's Kurt Russell as the former soldier Snake Plisskenn.
.....nuff said. The film holds up as a true sci-fi classic despite som moments of campiness, low production values and a short (at least for me) running time. Escape from new york is certainly worth a watch.
