Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Mark M — 25 Sep 2014
One of director John Carpenter's most well known films."Escape from New York" is a beautifully constructed post-apocalyptic dystopian masterpiece. The film and it's idea itself is quite strange and that is what makes it so enjoyable.
A sprawling prison realmed New York City that is guarded with maximum security is quite ingenious.Snake Plissken is possibly "Kurt Russell's most iconic role of his career, even though "The Thing" was for me his most iconic.
Snake is clever, lovable, enjoyable and a force to be reckoned with!.In the world of modern filmmaking this is known as a unique film,In the Cult cinema it is a masterpiece of filmmaking. whether you like Carpenters work or not this is a definite must see for all movie goers.
A classic!
