Apparently Snake Plissken is Kurt Russell's favorite character, and it's easy to see why. Despite being a pseudo-remake and containing a few silly set-pieces, watching Snake kick some ass never gets old.
The effects feel aged at this point but it never takes away from the fun. You can't really go wrong with the Carpenter/Russell team in my book.
