Review of Escape from Alcatraz (1979) by Ram M — 30 Apr 2012
Vintage! Clint Eastwood at his best.
MPAA Rating: PG.
Runtime: 112 minutes.
Tagline:
No one has ever escaped from Alcatraz... And no one ever will!
Plot:
Based on a true story of a group of prisoners who try to escape from Alcatraz, the prison nobody has ever escaped from. Eastwood stars.
Plus:
Solid acting and the fact that nothing is told of Eastwood's past crime adds to the weight of the movie. You are left guessing if he's really a good guy or not.
Minus:
All the usual prison break cliches are there and you wonder how many times can people escape the same way.
Overall:
Notwithstanding the minus, this is a very good movie to watch.
My Rating: 8/10.
