Review of Escape from Alcatraz (1979) by Samuel M — 29 Mar 2015
I watched this Movie three days after I visited Alcatraz Prison in San Francisco and I would say that it went beyond my expectations. The Film tells the true Story of Alcatraz Inmate Frank Morris played by Clint Eastwood as he miraculously figures out a way to escape the awful Prison he is in so he teams up with four other men and they all plan a escape Plan.
In this Film Eastwood isn't the only Actor who delivers a wonderful performance, pretty much every Character that was in the Film did a fantastic job so I am going to describe each great Character in this Review.
First theare is this really Mean but brilliantly acted Character named Wolf who trys to kill Frank twice and the first time they both get locked in solitary confinement, a large Prison Cell where they would keep Alcatraz inmates in real Life.
Basically it's a pretty much pitch black cell and the guards would keep them in there for 19 days with only Food, Water, and a Hole to take a dump and pee in. Sounds scary right. The next Character was a guy named Doc who was a little crazy like some of the other Inmates because he always keeps this Mouse with him through some of the Film.
My second favorite Character was a African American Man who Frank befriends and he really had a friendly personality towards him. My favorite Character was a Inmate named Charlie Butts who agrees to escape with the others but he doesn't end up doing it.
There was one scene where he was being visited by his Mom I believe wich I won't spoil where I cried at. Watch this Film for yourself and find out why. The famous Alcatraz Inmate the Birdman also is in this Film but he commits Suicide in a way I will certainly not spoil.
This movie was also very successful and surprisingly erri at times because of the way all the Prisoners were treated. If you know the story of Alcatraz you know what I'm talking about. The ending was also suspenseful because you don't know exactly what happened to Frank and the others.
If you haven't seen this Movie I'm sorry for spoiling a few things and I highly recommend you see it. If you have go watch it again on Netflix streaming.
