Review of Escanaba in da Moonlight (2001) by Jeff M — 14 Jul 2007

I saw this film a second time recently, and forgot how delightfully offbeat and amusing it was. As enjoyable as anything else Jeff Daniels has written (anyone watched his plays?), but it definitely helps the humor if you have 1) hunted or grew up around a hunting family, 2) know something about Euchre, and/or 3) know something about Yoopers, trolls, and the "Second Week of Deercamp" song.

All of its 'local flavor' makes for a story/characters unlike any other.
