Review of Ernest Scared Stupid (1991) by D R — 28 Dec 2009

Ernest P. Worell (Jim Varney) is back bringing you a whole new slapstick comedy adventure in Ernest Scared Stupid. This time Ernest is a garbage man who ends up getting fired. From there, Ernest hangs out with a few kids where they end up going to a mysterious forest to find a tree to make a treehouse. When Ernest & the kids finsh making their treehouse, this strange woman (Eartha Kitt) comes by & can;t believe what Ernest ahs done. The Woman tells Ernest that tree isn't ordinary tree. She tells Ernest that inside the tree lies a troll that has been there ever since Ernest's great great granddad put him there. Ernest doesn't believe the woman about the troll in where he thinks she's just trying to scare him. One stormy night, as Ernest is working on the tree, he wakes up the troll & puts everyone's life at stake. Now, its up to Ernest & the kids to find away how to stop the troll before he releases chaos on everything around them.

This is my second favorite out of the Ernest series. It has about the same amount of laughs as Saves Christmas & entertaining as always. I loved Ernest how he fights the troll. Jim Varney is a real hoot in which he does the most stupid things that you can imagine. Like how Jim Varney portrayed his characters as he was dealing with the situation. I liked the atmospheric gloomy mood in the background. It made the film feel dark & spooky. The cast was decent. I didn't except a real good cast but they were good enough for you to enjoy their characters. I'm sure everyone knows that the Ernest movies are all for Jim Varney. Jim is what makes them by giving you so many funny moments to crack you up. Overall, Scared Stupid is another good one for Ernest & for the family. If Jim Varney was still alive, I would congratulate him for making me laugh & pulling off a exceptional comedian for all viewers. Scared Stupid is a hillariously spooky good fun that will keep you watching for all that Ernest has going for ya.
